Tennis Elbow Exercises You Can Do

Tennis elbow is a swelling of the tendons, also called tendonitis. The damage is induced by a repetitive motion, which causes pain in the arm, particularly the elbow. New York Physical Therapy suggests that before beginning any exercises, treat tennis elbow with anti-inflammatories and ice to reduce inflammation. Once the inflammation has reduced, you can attempt some pain-relieving activities, including:

  • Clench Your Fists
Place your forearm on the table. Put the rolled-up towel in your hand, for ten seconds. Squeeze the towel and repeat nine times more. Switch arms and complete ten more repetitions.
  • Wrist Flexion
With your palm facing up, place your elbow on your knee. Take the dumbbell and place it in the palm of your hand. Curl your wrist toward your face to flex it. As you flex, do not move the rest of your arm. Repeat ten times on one side, then ten times on the other.
  • Ball Squeeze
Hold a tennis ball or a soft rubber ball in your palm. Squeeze and release your fingers up to twenty-five times. Do this stretch up to three times each day. If it hurts, try a softer object, such as a sponge or balled-up socks.
